Overview

Our sub-unit conducts case studies of financial technology innovation and financial inclusion in Southeast Asia. We focus on emerging Asian economies, examining the innovations brought about by the use of large-scale data and digitalization in transactions associated with factor markets in the finance, land, and labor sectors. We analyze their technological potential (what are the mechanisms by which they work) and their social impact (how they may transform society). Currently, the research focuses on the financial sector, with specific topics including the impact of fintech on financial inclusion, the challenges of digital currencies, and blockchain technology in the real estate registration system.
